Just bought a pair of mono amps from this Canadian company.

Anyone ever heard anything about them or have any firsthand experience? They look good and seem to have a crusty old EE doing the design work but short of that I got bupkus.

    Whats the word?

Are they made from maple? Do they come with a jug of syrup?

No, I'm not familiar either. :)

Yeah, that is kinda what drew me to them. Not slick. No nonsense amps too. Simple, point to point and only tube based stuff. Got me interested right away.
Got two amps for 2/3 the price of a single new one. Arrive Wednesday.

Miek, good to hear from you. How’s the art work doing these days?

maple audio has been around quite awhile. heard them at a couple of shows.
They had basic kits. They used dynaco chassis
Occasionally. I built other kits mfg :welbourne labs. Decware or bottle head types.

    kt88 amps?
    Have fun.

I believe the 2 I bought were not kits. They have serial numbers and dates on them. The ad says "original tubes" and the build date is 2011 so....a full compliment of tubes should arrive prior to the amps arrival. :)
And I really love the looks of KT88s. Big, fat glass bulbs. I even ordered the blue glass versions.
Hope they sound as good as they look.

KT-88, KT-66, EL-34 and EL-37 tubes all make great warm-sound amps that are common in the guitar amp world. They can be really quiet when driven normally and is pushed hard will produce lots of distortion.

Given the efficiency of my speakers i'm not sure it will be possible to push the amp hard and stay in the room. :)

Anxious to hear your reactions. Kinda surprised you didn’t look into Dennis Had tubes .....”Inspire”...,CARY audio designer. tou has a nice affinity to their sound.

I looked at them and was interested. I decided to go used this time so I could get more bang for my buck. Dennis' Inspire products are not old enough yet to have a supply of used units to mess with. Plus, I really wanted to have two mono amps. Not sure why, just tickles my fancy I suppose. :)

Carl, I am currently using a Cary amp. The Hercules. Heres the thing though, I think it has started to make some noise, still checking this out. Perhaps something amiss inside. By the time I ship it back, pay the service fee and pay for return shipping I am at least halfway to a fresh set of used amps.

I may use the Cary to power the IB sub, we shall see. If not, my son-in-law is a budding audiophile and he may be the benefactor of my cast-offs LOL

Hope it never needs repairs. :) They arrive today, on the truck for delivery. My tubes do not arrive until Saturday. I am debating firing them up with the old tubes or just waiting for the new ones to get here. Biasing them after they are in the rack will be inconvenient.

I say set them up and listen with the stock tubes. This way you know they work and you can get a baseline idea about sound. Then when your fancy new tubes arrive swap and compare.

According to the build date on the amps, if these truly are the original tubes, they are 9 years old. Probably due for some new glass.

I didnt get any fancy pants tubes. :) JJ's all around except the 6sj7s. The JJ KT88s are always getting great reviews so I just did all of them JJ.
