After traveling down to Florida last month to see the Blue Angels with my son, I started looking at other places we could go. I've been trying to keep our weekends busy and just stay out of the house. Trips to Atlanta, Savannah just to go site seeing and to expose my son to different areas and cultures. So recently I was watching Ridley Scott's "Hannibal" and noticed the home of Mason Verger, which is the Biltmore Estates in Asheville, North Carolina. It's one of those places where I know pictures will never justify not seeing it in person. Plus there's the Blue Ridge Parkway that I would love to experience as well.

If anyone's been to the area some input would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Been there...just recently this Christmas time.
Lovely estate. The town is a Gem. This region
of the country is very nice. Rich in history &
cultural attractions. Folk art, Crafts, artisans,
lovely scenery, decent musical scene & nice food.

Savannah is nice...the Georgia Coastline. The Carolinas.
For all the above reasons. Tenn & Kentucky are nice .

How about heading North? Like the U-P of Michigan?
    Wisconsin, the Dells.

Thanks Carl. Looking forward to this trip. I'm also looking to take my son to Washington DC the week of Thanksgiving. Not sure if we'll drive or fly. It's a short trek by plane and I'd much would rather maximize the time there siteseeing. I haven't been to DC since '89 during an 8th grade class trip.

Growing up in New Jersey my mother and her best friend would take my two brothers, me, and her best friends son around the state plus Pennsylvania. Those two were like Thelma and Louise and we always had a good time camping and siteseeing.

Michigan and the Northern States would sound like a great trip to make. Next year I plan to fly out to California so my son can meet most of my family out there plus visit where grandmother was buried back in December. More ideas more places to see

    Thanks!!!

enjoy yourselves & enjoy the memories in the making.
((now that my father has passed, I fondly recall all our road trips))

The Biltmore is cool..albeit they kinda gouge you
on the entrance fees etc,. no different than other
vacation spots. It's just that this time when I went
for the Christmas decorations etc., I just rolled my
eyes more often. ymmv. The town was cool. I have
been to Pigeon Forge once....have not returned. Just not my
    cup of tea.
