For the Roon Core, are you using any device besides a PC/MAC? I would like to remove the Roon Core software off of my laptop and place it on my Freenas Server (virtualized), and I've only found one set of instructions to set up Roon Core in this manner. It appears that there's no Raspberry Pi support as well (at least for the 1st gen devices). I have no issues with the Core running on my Laptop, but there are times where I have to open up my laptop, and run the software. Or if I have the laptop disconnected from the power adapter, it automatically goes to sleep, and I have to wake it up. Just little inconveniences.
I'm going to see if I can get the Core up and running in Freenas since the server sort of crapped out over the weekend. I accidentally closed out the server window while it was updating, and thus the current boot menu is corrupt. Luckily I can go to a previous boot menu and get back into the interface. While I'm repairing the broken boot menu, it wouldn't hurt to try and install a virtualized solution for the Roon Core to run.
This will potentially be my summer Project More of an Entry Level set up for now Devices in bold are at the top of my purchase list. The Bluesound Node 2 may come at a later time considering the fact that I have an Oppo 203 which pretty much has been a Solid Roon Endpoint. Adding the Oppo to the equation calls for more flexibility in my budget.
