Dr. John, Hall of Fame Singer Who Brought New Orleans to the World, Dead at 77
Woah! RIP Sir!
He sashayed onto the stage with a cane. His blue pinstripe suit was perfect, accented by a fedora (complete with a feather) and white spats on his shoes. He was elegant. He was an entertainer.
One of my favorite shows ever featured the good Dr along with Keb Mo and Charlie Musselwhite. Rest in peace, Mac.
I was fortunate enough to see Dr. John with the Neville Brothers at Tipitina's in New Orleans. Even though the beer was overpriced and by the end of the night my back was screaming for a chair, it remains a highlight of my concert-going life.
Great performer who leaves a fantastic legacy. Never saw him live but I have a couple of recordings.
I would like to have seen either of those shows.
I saw him up at Alpine Valley w/Ringo Starr and The All Starr Band back in 89.
I saw him at the Michigan State Fairgrounds in 1969, robes, feathers and all. Where can one find gilded splinters?
Kinda like this?
No. EXACTLY like this!
